Ocean Winds bags electricity business permit for Hanbando Offshore Wind
The company will now work on the environmental impact assessment.
Ocean Winds has secured the electricity business license for its 1,125-megawatt Hanbando Offshore Wind in Incheon, South Korea.
According to the company, this development gives the bottom-fixed project exclusive development rights over the sea space and reserves interconnection capacity.
The project aims to support South Korea’s target of achieving 125.9 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy deployment by 2038 under the 11th Electricity Supply and Demand Plan. It also plans to contribute to the goal of Incheon Metropolitan City, which aims to develop 6.2 GW of offshore wind power capacity by 2030.
Following this development, Ocean Winds will launch the environmental impact assessment and other key permits, conduct site investigations, and initiate the main engineering studies.
