PetroEnergy unit to start commercial ops of 19.6 MWDC solar plant in PH
This is its second utility-scale solar facility to reach this stage this year.
PetroEnergy Resources Corp’s renewable energy unit is set to commence commercial operations of a 19.6 megawatt direct current (MWDC) solar plant.
In a bourse filing, PetroEnergy said the San Jose Solar Power Plant will start its commercial operations on 1 August.
The solar project is under San Jose Green Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of Rizal Green Energy Corporation, which is a joint venture between PetroGreen Energy Corporation, the renewable energy arm of PetroEnergy, and Japan's Taisei Corporation.
The San Jose solar plant received its Provisional Authority to Operate from the Energy Regulatory Commission on 15 July. It also bagged the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines’ approval on 28 July for the facility’s Wholesale Electricity Spot Market participation as a commercial generator.
Maria Victoria Olivar, vice president for Commercial Operations and Business Development of PetroGreen Energy said this latest project is the company’s second utility-scale solar power facility to reach commercial operations this year, following the commercial launch of the 27.1 MWDC Dagohoy Solar Power Plant in Bohol on 16 July.
Both projects are part of a four-plant solar portfolio developed under Rizal Green Energy. The remaining two projects are set for physical completion in 2025, namely the 40 MWDC Limbauan Solar Power Plant in Isabela and the 25 MWDC Bugallon Solar Power Plant in Pangasinan.
