Power Corporation gears up to augment generation to 400 mw

The Puducherry government owned Power Corporation in Karaikal has drawn up plans to augment gas based power generation from present 32 mw to 400 mw in a phased manner.

Chairman of the Corporation and ruling AINRC legislator P R Siva said cost of generation per mw would be around Rs 3.5 crore. On the controversy over regional reservation for students joining professional colleges, he said Karaikal was now entitled to 18 per cent quota of reservation.

Leader of the DMK in the Assembly A M H Nazeem said regional reservation should continue unabated and one cannot fix a timelimit for it.
