Rajasthan inks deal with India Energy Storage Alliance to lead BESS deployment
The partnership promotes energy storage to support grid stability and renewable integration.
The Government of Rajasthan has signed a memorandum of understanding with India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) to explore energy sector opportunities.
“This collaboration with the IESA will help the state to become a leader in BESS [battery energy storage system] projects in the country,” Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary, Energy said in a statement.
Sharma said that Rajasthan recently awarded 6,000 megawatt-hours of standalone BESS projects and is coming up with india's biggest energy storage capacity on a single location in Pugal Solar park.
IESA President Debmalya Sen also said the partnership will support the Rajasthan government in promoting deployment of energy storage systems to support renewable energy integration, grid stability, and round-the-clock power.
The alliance will also help Rajasthan enhance skill development and capacity building through training programmes, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. It will also help in attracting investments in energy storage, e-mobility, and clean energy value chains to Rajasthan.
