REDC enters MOU with NIA to develop mini-hydropower plants
This will be built in three areas with existing NIA facilities.
Repower Energy Development Corporation (REDC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Irrigation Administration to develop mini-hydropower plants in three areas where NIA has river irrigation system systems.
In a disclosure, REDC said these projects are located in Barangay Dapdap in Tayabas in Quezon province, Barangay Sta. Justina in Iriga City in Camarines Sur, and Barangay Poblacion in Pilar in Bohol.

“REDC has signified its intention to pursue the development of mini hydropower plants in an area which has the potential to have the feasibility of sustainable operations, particularly in the areas mentioned, through an acceptable scheme under existing laws, and preparatory to such submission has requested NIA’s permission for the conduct of a comprehensive study of the economic, financial and technical viability of the projects,” it said.
REDC will conduct the study for a year.
