SECI awards 960 MW of solar power projects in India

Renew, Avaada, and UPC Renewables won 300MW each.

The Solar Energy Corp of India (SECI) has awarded four solar power projects in its 1,200 MW solar auction (960 MW allotted). Three companies, namely Renew, Avaada and UPC Renewables won 300 MW each at a tariff of INR 2.71/kWh (US$3.83c/kWh), while Tata Power won 60 MW at INR 2.72/kWh (US$3.85c/kWh). Tariffs in this 7th SECI auction were slightly higher than in the previous rounds, since the latest solar auction received a lowest tariff of INR 2.53/kWh (US$3.58c/kWh) and attracted only two bidders.
