Tanjung Kasam power plant to require 40,000 tons of coal

The Tanjung Kasam steam power plant in Batam city, Riau Islands will need around 40,000 tons of coal per month once it starts operating.

This was relayed by Tagor Sijabat, the technical director of state electricity firm PLN for Batam office, according to Antara News Agency.

The plant has a capacity of 2x55 MW.

The power plant will have two generators, the first is expected to operate in July 2012 and the second one at the end of the year.

"Coal supplies will come from East Kalimantan. In order to guarantee undisturbed power supply, the Tanjung Kasan power plant is designed to have coal stock for a 20-day operation," Sijabat added.
