Thailand announces bids for renewables projects

Investments for renewables will surge by as much as 30% to US$1.6b.

Thailand's Energy Regulatory Commission unveiled bid announcements for development and operation of renewable power projects next year with total generating capacity of 1,000MW.

The bidding will be open for solar, biogass, biomass, and waste-to-energy projects, and will push renewables investments to as much as US$1.6b (THB60b), a 30.4% rise from US$1.2b (THB46b) this year.

All renewable power sold to the government will rely on the feed-in tariff system recently mandated by the ERC.

The first bid will be for 519MW solar farms and will be out in the second half of the year.
