Torrent signs EPC contracts with Siemens for Gujarat projects

Torrent Power will avail of the engineering, procurement and construction services Siemens Limited, India and Siemens AG, Germany for setting up two gas based power projects of capacity worth 1600 MW in Gujarat.

 

Engineering, procurement and construction contracts have been signed by the parties.

The 382.5 MW UNOSUGEN, initiated for capacity expansion at the existing SUGEN mega power project  near Surat, is being established under the aegis of Torrent Power Limited. On the other hand, the 1200 MW DGEN greenfield power project at Dahej in south Gujarat is under the aegis of Torrent Energy Limited, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Torrent Power Limited. It will be being implemented in a phased manner, starting with a 400 MW first phase.

The projects, which will be implemented in the span of three years, will contribute towards meeting the growing energy demand Ahmedabad and Surat distribution utilities and that of Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region at the Dahej SEZ.
