Vietnam's hydropower projects in Quang Nam behind schedule

Many of the 17 hydropower plant projects in Quang Nam province have not made much progress.

This prompted Quang Nam's People's Committee to check on the construction progress ofthe projects.

According to the Chairman of the committee, Le Phuoc Thanh, some projects, although they had received licences, had not even been started.

This situation has made socio-economic development in the area more difficult as people in nearby mountainous and remote areas have also been affected by the lack of infrastructure.

The province now has 44 approved hydropower plant projects with a total capacity of more than 1,500MW._VNS
