CEA backs Uttar Pradesh power share claim on Rajghat project

The Central Electricity Authority supports Uttar Pradesh's claim for 50 per cent of power generated by the 45 MW inter-state Rajghat Hydro Electric Project on the river Betwa.

The bi-state project was undertaken under an agreement between the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for sharing of the Betwa waters.

Uttar Pradesh, however, has alleged that Madhya Pradesh has so far failed to provide it with its share of power and has called for the Ministry of Power to resolve the long standing issue.

The project provides irrigation to 1.38 lakh ha of land in Uttar Pradesh and 1.21 lakh ha of land in Madhya Pradesh.
