Committee to probe Raozan Power Plant explosion

BPDB formed a three-member committee to look into the explosion at Raozan Power Plant in Chittagong.

The committee will submit its report within seven working days.

“We will visit the plant on Wednesday,” said Abul Kasem, PDB Chief Engineer and leader of the committee.

The Chief Engineer of Chittagong PDB, Shibu Kumar Chowdhury, told the Daily Sun that they have found some ‘technical faults’ at the plant during a primary investigation.

The explosion forced the Bangladesh Power Development Board to shut down two units of the plant having a capacity to generate 420 megawatts of electricity.

The disruption caused load shedding of around 200MW in the port city in last two days.
