Lao achieves renewable energy targets, says Minister

Different frameworks in the Lao renewable energy sector have been achieved and development of hydropower  is now on focus, according to Laos Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Soulivong Daravong.



He added that this resulted in increased electricity generation in the country leading to export of electricity to other countries.

Laos also ahieved its electricity export targets as well as reduced air pollution due to use of fossil fuel.

The Lao government approved the national development strategy of renewable energy, which sought the increased use of renewable energy by 30 per cent in 2025.
