Powergrid operators to train at Jamia Millia

Powergrid’s System Operators at its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition technology will undergo training and certification at Jamia Millia.

This was finalized by an MoU signed by Sh. V. V. Sharma, General Manager of Powergrid, and Dr. S.M. Sajid, Registrar of  Jamia Millia.

As its first initiative under the MoU, Powergrid’s load despatchers at the Power System Operation Corporation Limited, its wholly owned subsidiary, who operate the National and the Regional Load Despatch Centers, will be trained and certified in the state-of-the-art SCADA laboratory of Jamia Millia Islamia.

Sixteen load despatchers from all the five Regional Load Despatch Centers and the National Load Despatch Center of POSOCO are attending the first program.

Sh. Jung called this development as “mutually beneficial collaborative efforts” as POWERGRID can utilise the facilities available at Jamia Millia Islamia to train and update its practicing engineers while Jamia Millia can take advantage of the industry exposure to its faculty members and students. Sh. Chaturvedi commended the initiative and encouraged the participants to benefit from the collaboration.

The MoU signing is expected to pave way for a long and fruitful Industry-Academia collaboration.
