Second Takahama nuclear reactor to be shutdown

Kansai Electric Power Co will close the 870MW No. 4 reactor at its Takahama station in Japan.

This is the second of three reactors being closed for maintenance this week.

The utility will face a 6.6% shortage in generating capacity in August due to the reactor closures, which will prompt the Japanese Government to call upon mandatory electricity-saving measures.
