Ampelmann's gangway technologies boost safety and efficiency in wind projects

This technology can operate even during rough weather conditions.

Netherlands-based Ampelmann deploys gangway technologies for wind projects which adopt a hexapod system that improves the safety and efficiency of transferring people to offshore platforms.

The hexapod system allows the gangway technologies to "compensate for the divergent motions of floaters and vessels" even during rough weather in open seas.

"[Since 2007],  we aim...to send people offshore safely and efficiently," Vincent Chua, Area Manager (Business Development) at Ampelmann, told Asian Power.

Aside from this, they also set up a 24-hour service hotline or the Operations Control Centre for its customers.

In Asia, most of its projects are in Brunei, Taiwan, Malaysia, India, and Vietnam.

Chua noted that they also recently set up a Taiwan office which will serve as the company's main touchpoint for the offshore wind industry.

"We are looking into Japan and Korea for the time being, and Australia and the Philippines in the coming years as well," he added.
