TEPCO to restart thermal plants

TEPCO to restart thermal plants

TEPCO will restart operations at two of its thermal power plants in Japan to remedy shortages during the peak season.

The plants to be restarted are the 600MW No.2 unit and 1,000MW No.4 unit at its Hirono thermal plant and another 1,000MW coal-fired unit at Hitachinaka in Ibaraki.

The company estimates that it will supply 55,200MW of power by the end of July.

The thermal power plants have been shut due to the earthquake, which hit the nation on 11 March.
