Tenaga Nasional Berhad takes home Gold for Transmission & Distribution Project of the Year at Asian Power Awards

In a groundbreaking triumph, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) clinched the coveted  Transmission & Distribution Project of the Year - Gold category at the esteemed Asian  Power Awards.

TNB's visionary investment in energy transition-related capital expenditure underscores its dedication to fortifying the nation's grid and network. Striking a  delicate balance between the energy trilemma and nurturing our economic growth,  TNB has paved the way for a brighter tomorrow.

The revolutionary Energy Integrated Platform (EIP) project, a cornerstone of the Smart Energy Management Infrastructure (SEMI), has redefined the energy landscape in response to the global and Malaysian vision for energy transition.

Designed and implemented since 2021, EIP stands tall as the largest component of SEMI, engineered to optimise renewable energy integration, balance energy supply and demand, and enhance overall energy efficiency. This visionary initiative provides visibility into energy consumption patterns, allowing for advanced simulations and strategic planning. By addressing local constraints and empowering superior network control, EIP will enable flexibility in markets, making renewable energies more accessible and affordable for consumers in the future.

At its core, EIP offers near real-time visibility into renewable energy sources,  enabling TNB Distribution Network to seamlessly integrate renewable energy into the  network. Customers will be able to benefit from real-time energy consumption data,  empowering them to optimise their usage, ultimately reducing their carbon footprint.

A pivotal feature of this transformative project is the DER Management  Dashboard, a cutting-edge tool displaying key parameters, especially in carbon tracking  and generation, thereby promoting sustainability. By leveraging digital technologies  and supporting enablers, EIP empowers all market participants to produce, consume,  manage excess energy capacity, and monitor energy consumption effectively.

"As Malaysia's energy landscape evolves, EIP propels the TNB Distribution  Network toward a more flexible network, actively championing decarbonization  efforts. This monumental achievement marks a significant stride toward a greener,  more sustainable future for Malaysia and its people," proclaimed the company.

TNB's triumph at the 19th Asian Power Awards not only celebrates their exceptional  innovation but also underscores their commitment to combat the climate crisis and  meet the burgeoning demand for energy. With the Energy Integrated Platform leading  the way, Malaysia embarks on a path toward a cleaner, brighter tomorrow.
