India and Finland to explore solar energy applications

Will focus on solar technology for oil and gas projects.

Both countries will also explore specific projects in biofuels and algae based biofuels research; water and waste water management and carbon capture and reformation.

"Based on above broad areas of collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding can be taken up between Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Government of Finland in future," said a statement that followed a meeting between of officials of the two nations.

The delegations were led by Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Lakshmi Panabaka and Finland's State Secretary for Employment and Economy Marja Rislakki..

The two sides said collaboration between the ministry and Finland can be in the area of sustainable development for mutual benefit in accordance with the agreement, respective laws and regulations of both countries.

Finland's "Finn-partnership" aims to increase commercial cooperation with developing countries to enhance economic growth; diversify the economy and exports and reduce poverty in developing countries.
