China's renewables generation up 11% by end-September 2019

Solar PV generation grew 28.1%.

China's renewable energy generation rose 11% YoY by the end of September to 1.44 trillion kWh, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).

Hydropower generation grew 7.9% to 893.8 billion kWh, whilst wind power generation rose 8.9% to 291.4 billion kWh.

Solar photovoltaic power generation surged 28.1% to 171.5 billion kWh, whilst biomass power generation climbed 19.4% to 80.4 billion kWh.

The utilization rate of hydropower was up by 3.3ppt to 95.9% in the first three quarters, whilst average curtailment rates of wind power and photovoltaic power dropped by 3.5ppt and 1ppt, respectively.

By the end of September, non-fossil energy accounted for 37.2% of the country's installed 6,000kW and above generating units, up 0.8ppt compared with the same period last year.
