Bangladesh govt okays 7 private sector power plants

The government on Bangladesh has approved proposals establishing seven more private sector power plants.

 

Of the proposed plants, five will run on furnace oil, one will be gas-fired and another will operate on duel fuel.

Nurul Karim, joint secretary of the cabinet division, said the committee has approved the proposal to set up a 100 to 170 megawatt gas-fired power plant at Fenchuganj in Sylhet. Kushiara SNPC and DBPL Consortium Limited will jointly install the plant at a rate of Tk 7.17 per unit.

Samuda Power and ASM Consortium Limited will set up another furnace oil-based 50 MW power plant at Kamlaghat in Munshiganj. The plant will sell electricity at a rate of Tk 7.17 per unit.

The purchase committee has approved another two power plants having electricity generation capacity of 50 MW each at Daulatpur in Nababganj and Singair in Manikganj. Samuda Power and ASM Consortium will set up the power plants.

The cabinet body also approved setting up another 150 MW dual fuel-fired plant in Keraniganj which will be installed by Matiara Power Pack Consortium at a rate of Tk 6.55 per unit of electricity.

The meeting approved two proposals for installing two power plants of 50 MW each in Bhairab and Satkhira. Consortium of Akin Spaces and Alliances Holding Limited and Consortium of Confident Cement and Energy Pack Power Limited will implement the projects.
