The facility’s 15 wind turbines with a capacity of 2 MW each will be replaced with seven wind turbines with a capacity of 4.3 MW each which is one of the largest models in Japan.

Once completed, the electricity produced will still be sold to the Tohoku Electric Power Network Co., Inc. which could provide power to around 22,000 average households annually.

The project will also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 31,000 tonnes every year.
