Malaysia’s RE pipeline grows as Leader Energy begins 99MWac solar project
Project is expected to commence operations in 2027.
Leader Energy Group Berhad (Leader Energy) has commenced construction of Leader Solar Energy III (LSE III), a 99MWac large-scale solar project in Mukim Kuala Ketil, Daerah Baling, Kedah.
The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri H’ng Bok San, founder of Leader Energy, alongside Dato’ Sean H’ng, executive deputychairman and group chief executive officer, and Datin Seri Jessica H’ng, non-independent non-executive director.
Developed by Leader Energy’s wholly owned subsidiary, Leader Solar Energy III Sdn, the project was awarded under Malaysia’s Large-Scale Solar 5+ (LSS5+) Programme.
LSE III strengthens Leader Energy’s presence in Kedah, following the successful development of LSE (38MWp) and LSE II (29.4MWp) under Malaysia’s first Large-Scale Solar programme in 2018 and 2019.
The project reflects the group’s experience in developing, building, owning, and operating utility-scale renewable energy assets.
Scheduled to begin operations in 2027, LSE III will add renewable energy capacity to Malaysia’s national grid and support the country’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
