SECI launches India’s largest solar-battery hybrid project

The power generated from the project will be supplied to the state of Chhattisgarh.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) commissioned the 152.3 megawatt-hours (MWh) solar and 40 MW/ 120 MWh battery energy storage system project, the largest solar-battery facility in the country.

In a statement, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy the energy generated from the project would be purchased by the state of Chhattisgarh, where the facility is located.

The project has also been dedicated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the nation.

The ministry added that the project uses bifacial modules that reflect light from the ground, generating more electricity compared to monofacial modules.
