NTPC reaches 74000 MW of installed capacity with new solar project

The Chhattargarh Solar PV Project is the first NTPC-REL solar project in the region.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC-REL) has opened its first solar project in the Chhattargarh region with the 150 MW Chhattargarh Solar PV Project, reaching a total installed capacity of 73,958 megawatts (MW).

Upon the start of commercial operations of 70 MW, the solar project is slated to be fully commissioned with a full 150 MW capacity by March 2024.

The capacity is succeeded under SECI-Tranche:III, covering the state of Rajasthan.

The solar project is expected to generate 370 million units of energy each year, sufficient for 60,000 households, and save 300,000 tonnes (3 lakhs) of CO2 emissions. It is also estimated to save around 1000 million metric tonnes per annum (MMPTA), sufficient for over 5000 households.

Currently, NTPC-REL has 17 projects on its pipeline, with a capacity exceeding 6000 MW and an overall renewable energy capacity standing at 3448 MW.
