India installs 209 GW of renewable energy in 2024
Solar remains to be the largest contributor.
A total of 209.4 gigawatts of renewable energy were installed in India in 2024, of which nearly half were from solar power.
According to JMK Research & Analytics’ latest report, solar energy accounted for 24,546 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity, whilst wind added 3,426 MW.
In December alone, a total of 3,901 MW of solar and wind capacity was added. Rajasthan added the highest utility-scale solar capacity of 1,680 MW, followed by Gujarat with 684 MW.
Gujarat also installed the highest wind capacity with 105 MW, followed by Tamil Nadu with 92 MW.
