Zelestra bags SJVN's 500-MW hybrid megaproject

It could meet the energy needs of over 225,000 households in India.

Zelestra has been awarded a Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contract by India’s Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), to build a 500-megawatt (MW) hybrid project combining solar, wind, and energy storage technologies.

The project will be situated in Solapur, Maharashtra, India, with operations to start in 2027. It will include 250 MWdc of solar, 180 MW of wind power, and a 90-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS).

The combined annual electricity generation will be over 815 gigawatt-hours, which could meet the energy needs of over 225,000 Indian households and save around 0.7 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

In total, Zelestra in India now has a pipeline of more than 5.4 gigawatts of clean energy projects across 7 states.
