Adani unit awards HVDC contract for renewable energy transmission

This will benefit around 60 million households in India.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. subsidiary Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited has awarded the contract for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) terminals that will transmit renewable energy from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh.

The contract was given to the consortium comprising Hitachi Energy and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). They will design and deliver HVDC terminals to bring clean energy from the Bhadla area to the industrial and transport hub in Fatehpur.

HVDC is a cost-efficient way to move clean energy over long distances. Its two-way flow strengthens and speeds up the grid, helping India add more renewables.

The 6 gigawatt, 950 kilometre HVDC link can power approximately 60 million households in India.
