CNOOC appoints new chairman

Newly-appointed chairman Zhang Chuanjiang has taken on various roles in the company.

CNOOC Limited and 80883 have announced the appointment of Zhang Chuanjiang as chairman of the board, effective 8 July.

In a statement, CNOOC said Zhang also holds the position of chairman of the Nomination Committee and Chairman of the Strategy and Sustainability Committee of the company.

Zhang is a professor-level senior engineer with a Master's degree in engineering. He took on various roles, such as chairman of CHN Energy Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. and vice president of China Datang Corporation Ltd.

He was a director and president of China Datang Corporation Ltd., and also served as chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Chairman and President of Overseas Oil & Gas Corporation, Ltd., and Chairman of CNOOC (BVI) Limited from June 2025.
