EGAT appoints new governor

Narin Phoawanich has been EGAT’s acting governor since July.

Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has appointed Narin Phoawanich as its 17th governor.

According to EGAT, he replaces Thepparat Theppitak, whose term ended on 30 July 30. The appointment will take effect from the date the employment contract is signed.

Phoawanich holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, and both a master’s and a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

Before his appointment, Phoawanich served as Assistant Governor – Power Plant Engineering and Construction from 2021 to 2022, Assistant Governor – Fuel Management from 2022 to 2024, and Deputy Governor – Fuel from 2024 to 2025. He then served as Deputy Governor – Fuel and Acting Governor of EGAT from 31 July 31 to 15 October 15 this year, and Deputy Governor – Governor’s Office and Acting Governor of EGAT from 16 October to the present.
