Ampyr Energy and CFM commission 67.5 MW solar plant in Karnataka

It will generate about 118 GWh of electricity each year.

Climate Fund Managers (CFM) and Ampyr Energy have commissioned the 67.5 MWp Somasamudra Phase 1 solar PV plant in Karnataka, India.

The project is the fourth delivered under the Ampyr Renewable Energy platform and supplies renewable electricity to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers through an open access model.

Located in Ballari District, the plant is expected to generate more than 118 GWh of clean electricity annually and avoid over 97,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

The project was backed by Climate Investor One (CIO), a blended finance facility managed by CFM and supported by the European Union.

Ampyr Energy currently has more than 500 MW of operational and under-construction renewable energy capacity in India.

CFM Investment Director Jirong Lim said the project demonstrated the scalability of the platform model in India’s C&I renewables sector.

AMPYR India CEO Rajkumar Roy said the commissioning highlighted the company’s ability to deliver renewable energy projects efficiently.

The project created around 250 construction jobs and is expected to support about 45 operational roles.

The EU has contributed $103.77m (EUR88.3m) to CIO through its Global Gateway initiative.
