Tata Power Renewable commissions 100.8 MW Jewali wind project in Maharashtra
Wind farm expected to generate 299 million units of clean electricity annually.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, has commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra's Dharashiv district.
Power generated from the project will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution to help meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets.
The project comprises 28 SG 3.6-145 wind turbine generators and is expected to generate about 299 million units (kWh) of clean electricity annually. It is also projected to offset nearly 245 million kg of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions each year.
With the commissioning of the Jewali Wind Project, TPREL's wind portfolio has crossed 3.9 GW, including more than 1.3 GW of operational capacity. The remaining projects are under development across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has now reached 11.6 GW. Of this, 6.7 GW is operational, comprising 5.4 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, whilst 4.9 GW is under various stages of implementation.
The under-construction portfolio includes around 2.1 GW of solar projects, 2.6 GW of wind projects and 0.2 GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS), which are expected to be commissioned over the next six to 24 months.
