Thailand's EGAT to buy 12% of PT Adaro Energy arm for $325m

The first $164m will be paid before end-2016.

In a bid to secure Thailand's energy supplies, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand proposed to buy 12% of coal miner PT Adaro Indonesia.

EGAT will be transacting the $325m deal through its unit EGAT International Co (EGATi). General Sansern Kaekamnerd, a spokesperson for the prime minister's office, said that more than the first half of the deal amount ($164m) will be paid within this year.

The rest of the unpaid portion will be settled from 2017 to 2022.
