AMEA Power breaks ground on 150 MW/300 MWh BESS project in Uzbekistan
It features a two-hour storage capacity.
AMEA Power has officially broken ground on a 150 MW / 300 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Tashkent, located in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district.
The project will enhance grid stability, support renewable energy integration, and reduce reliance on fossil-fuel peak power.
It features a two-hour storage capacity and is expected to deliver up to 10,950 equivalent cycles over a 15-year operational lifespan.
Officials said this will significantly enhance long-term energy reliability and system resilience across Uzbekistan.
The development is also expected to generate employment during the construction phase and contribute to the continued expansion of Uzbekistan’s clean energy sector.
The ceremony was attended by senior government and diplomatic officials, including Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan Saeed Matar Sultan Alsiri Alqemzi, and AMEA Power Chairman Hussain Al Nowais, alongside other senior officials and stakeholders.
