Philippine grid gets 1.5 GW boost from 40 new projects
Fourteen more projects with 371.8 MW are in testing and commissioning.
A total of 40 energy projects were completed in 2026 under Task Force 200, adding 1.5 gigawatts (GW) to the Philippine power grid, the Department of Energy said.
Task Force 200 is a government initiative launched to fast-track 200 energy projects by removing regulatory and implementation delays and improving coordination between agencies and private developers.
Of the completed projects, nine battery energy storage systems (BESS) contributed 169.7 MW, supporting grid stability and renewable energy integration.
Another 14 projects with a combined capacity of 371.8 MW are in testing and commissioning and are expected to begin commercial operations once requirements are completed.
The DOE is also monitoring major ongoing projects, including the Bugallon (530 MW) and Terra Solar (up to 750 MW) facilities, both currently undergoing commissioning and system testing.
