Azure Power names new CEO

He will assume the position on 10 July 2023.

Azure Power has appointed Sunil Gupta as the company’s new CEO to replace acting CEO Rupesh Agrawal starting on 10 July 2023.

In a statement, Azure Power said Gupta will also serve as the managing director of the company’s subsidiary Azure Power India Private Limited.

Agrawal will step down from his post for other opportunities.

Before joining Azure Power Gupta was Head – South East Asia & South Asia Business at Vena Energy and was responsible for managing existing business and new project development.

He also served as Group Head- Renewable Energy Business at Sembcorp Industries, Singapore. Prior to this, he was a cleantech industry professional in Standard Chartered Bank and Morgan Stanley.

Azure Power also appointed Sugata Sircar as the Group chief financial officer (CFO) and Executive Director, Finance of Azure Power India Private Limited starting 1 May 2023. He resigned as the non-executive independent director and member of the company’s Audit & Risk Committee and Capital Committee.

It added that Pawan Agrawal will remain as CFO of Azure Power India Private and its group of subsidiaries and will report to Sircar.
