India’s total coal production up nearly 6% as of January 2025
During last month alone, production was up 4.38%.
The Ministry of Coal of India has reported a cumulative coal production of 830.66 MT up to January 2025, up 5.88% from 784.51 MT recorded a year earlier.
In a statement, the ministry said coal production during January alone reached 104.43 MT, reflecting a 4.38% increase from last year. Contribution from captive, commercial and other entities increased, with production increasing 31% to 19.68 MT.
Similarly, coal dispatch also increased during January 2025 to 92.40 MT, registering a 6.31% increase from 86.92 MT in the same period last year.
Coal dispatch from captive and other entities for January 2025 reached 17.72 MT, increasing 29.94% from the previous year. Meanwhile, the cumulative coal dispatch up to January 2025 has increased 5.73% to 843.75 MT.
