Northland power wins 30-year wind power deal with TSMC for Hai Long project

The Hai Long project has 1,022 MW capacity.

Northland Power Inc. has signed a 30-year corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for additional electricity from its Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan.

The agreement expands an existing partnership established in 2022 and will, once finalised, see TSMC offtake 100% of the project’s total generating capacity.

Subject to regulatory and administrative approvals expected later in 2026, the agreement will include Hai Long 2A, alongside the previously contracted Hai Long 2B and Hai Long 3.

The Hai Long offshore wind development, located approximately 45 to 70 kilometers off the coast of Changhua County in the Taiwan Strait, has a combined capacity of 1,022 megawatts. It consists of three sites, namely Hai Long 2A (294 MW), Hai Long 2B (224 MW), and Hai Long 3 (504 MW).

The project is being developed by Northland Power (30.6%), Mitsui & Co. (40%), and Gentari International Renewables (29.4%).

Northland said the agreement improves the project’s long-term revenue stability and strengthens its financial returns.
