SLNG taps MOL, Jurong Port, and Wood for Singapore’s second LNG terminal

The parties will collaborate on a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit.

Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) has tapped Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) group, Jurong Port, and Wood plc (Wood) group for the development of the city-state's second LNG terminal.

The agreement between SLNG and MOL states that the latter's subsidiary will charter a newbuild Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) with a storage capacity of 200,000m³ and a regasification capacity of 5 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA).

South Korean shipbuilder, Hanwha Ocean, will build the FSRU, which is expected to enter service by the end of the decade.

With the existing terminal on Jurong Island, the FSRU will enable SLNG to increase its combined LNG throughput capacity to up to 15 MTPA.

Jurong Port and SLNG have agreed to berth the FSRU at Jurong Port.

They will also develop onshore connecting infrastructure to link the FSRU to onshore pipelines and the Singapore gas pipeline network.

Wood will define the scope of the onshore connecting infrastructure under the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract awarded by SLNG.

The FEED will outline the engineering design and complete scope of works needed for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to build the terminal.
