TotalEnergies and Nextnorth start construction of 440 MWp solar project in Isabela
It is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2027.
TotalEnergies and Philippine renewable energy developer Nextnorth have reached financial close and begun construction of a 440 MWp solar power plant in Ilagan City, Isabela.
The project is expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2027.
The solar facility is jointly owned by TotalEnergies (65%) and Nextnorth (35%). Once operational, it is projected to generate around 13.5 TWh of electricity over 20 years.
More than half of the output will be sold under long-term agreements with AdventEnergy and PrimeRES, supplying commercial and industrial users.
The remaining power will go to the national grid under the Philippines’ Green Energy Auction Program (Round 4).
The project costs about $300m and is financed by SMBC, ING Bank NV, and Standard Chartered Bank, making it the largest international financing for a solar project in the Philippines to date.
TotalEnergies said the project supports its renewable expansion in Asia, whilst Nextnorth said it will help improve energy security, increase domestic clean power supply, and support the country’s energy transition.
