Welspun to develop 870 MW wind projects in Karnataka

Welspun Energy will develop twin wind power projects in Karnataka within the next five years.

It has signed a MoU with the government of Karnataka for the projects.

The company will set up a 100 MW project as well as a 750 MW development in the districts of Bijapur, Chitradurga and Belgaum at an estimated cost of Rs 5,675 crore. It may be noted that Welspun already has several solar projects in operation and the company has a goal to set up 1 GW of wind energy capacity in the country over the next three to four years.

Vineet Mittal, Co-founder and Managing Director of Welspun Energy Ltd. said: ”We want to help create a greener empowered India and through our renewable energy projects Welspun Energy is effecting a change on ground. With the signing of these two projects we have moved exponentially forward in this direction.”
