Coal despatch also grew 17.15%.

India’s NTPC Ltd reported a generation of 113.87 billion units in the first quarter of its fiscal year 2025 (Q1 FY2025), which translates to a 9.5% growth from last year.

In the same period, the integrated power utility said in a statement its coal stations recorded a plant load factor of 79.5%.

The company has been implementing efforts to ramp up power generation to ensure steady supply as India’s electricity demand continues to record new peaks.

NTPC is contributing a quarter of India’s power requirement. Its portfolio covers thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants.

In a separate statement, NTPC said its coal despatch from its captive mines grew 17.15% to 10.194 million metric tonnes (MMT) in Q1 FY2025.
