Tamil Nadu to tap night generated wind power for industries

Tamil Nadu will implement a state government scheme to utilise 100 MW wind power generated at nights for supplying to industrial units.

 


Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa Jayalalithaa said the government has an action plan to utilise the power generated by the windmills between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. owing to strong winds during August and September.

She said the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board would supply the power to those industrial units evincing interest in the scheme, which starts Monday.

According to Jayalalithaa, the state has an installed capacity of wind power to the tune of 6,007 MW.
