India to commission two more solar energy projects
Projects will add 35MW to Rajasthan’s grid.
The two projects were undertaken by Welspun Energy Ltd., India’s largest developer of solar projects. Welspun said the two Rajasthan plants will be commissioned this week, over a week ahead of schedule.
The 15 MW and 20 MW projects in the Jodhpur district were scheduled to start Feb. 26, said Welspun. The company has begun constructing another 15 MW solar generator in Rajasthan.
Welspun is building solar plants across India with a combined capacity of 750 MW and wind energy projects with a total capacity of 1 GW.
Welspun aims to commission 1.7 GW of solar and wind power projects across India by 2015. It won India’s largest solar power project of 130 MW in May 2012.
