AboitizPower turns on 173 MW Calatrava Solar Project

This is its largest solar facility so far.

Aboitiz Renewables Inc. (ARI), the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), has activated the 173 megawatt peak (MWp) Calatrava Solar Project in Negros Occidental in the Philippines.

“Calatrava is our fifth energized solar facility and the largest capacity thus far in AboitizPower’s growing solar generation portfolio,” said ARI President Jimmy Villaroman.

AboitizPower has commissioned 512 megawatts (MW) of energy projects, including the recent 45 MW Armenia Solar Plant in Tarlac. It has also energised the 159-MWp Laoag Solar and 94-MWp Cayanga-Bugallon Solar power plants in Pangasinan, the 17-MW Tiwi Binary Geothermal Power Plant in Albay, and SN Aboitiz Power’s 24-MW Magat battery energy storage system (BESS) in Isabela.

Currently, AboitizPower has over 1,000 MW of disclosed projects from various energy sources. It also has investment in thermal power plants to support the Philippines’ baseload and peak energy demands.

This brings the company on track with its goal of building 3,600 MW of new renewable energy capacity en route to a balanced generation portfolio of 9,200 MW, composed of at least 50% renewable energy capacities by 2030.
