AGL Energy eyes 1.4 GW battery capacity FID in FY 2025/2026

This is amidst its growing battery portfolio.

AGL Energy Limited is targeting a Financial Investment Decision for 1.4 gigawatts (GW) of battery capacity within the next 12-18 months, accelerating its decarbonisation efforts.

According to its latest financial report, the company said this capacity will expand its current flexible fleet of 7.6 GW, which grew by 200 megawatts (MW) over the half with the addition of a second 200 MW virtual battery agreement with Neoen.

AGL Energy said the construction of its 500 MW Liddell Battery is on schedule. The first 250 MW is expected to be operational by early 2026, and the remaining 250 MW by April 2026.
