Australia OKs 654-MW new RE projects under CIS tender

The projects are scheduled to be operational by October 2027.

Australia has selected four new renewable projects in the Capacity Investment Scheme that will deliver 654 megawatts (MW) of energy for over 600,000 homes in Western Australia.

The successful projects include Boddington Giga Battery (324 MW) operated by PGS Energy, Merredin Big Battery (100 MW) by Atmos Renewables, Muchea Big Battery (150 MW) by Neoen, and Waroona Renewable Energy Project (80 MW) by Frontier Energy.

The projects have committed a total investment of $91m (AUD145m) in shared benefits to local projects and $26m (AUD41.5m) in initiatives for local First Nations groups.

The projects are scheduled to be operational by October 2027.
