CEM enhances power supply reliability

Macau's "closed ring" project will be put in full operation by this coming Chinese New Year. It was successfully completed in December 2009.

To further enhance the network performance, the Companhia de Electricidade de Macau initiated a US$5.1 million pilot project of “closed ring” configuration of the distribution network in early 2008. The “closed ring” configuration is the best technology currently available to increase supply reliability. The system will drastically decrease the interruption time to less than 0.1 second in case there is a cable fault, so brief that it will be unnoticeable to the customers in the area.

CEM's supply reliability performance is now firmly among international leaders with average system availability index of 99.9995 percent.
