CS Energy, Aula Energy reach financial close on Boulder Creek Wind Farm

This will commence operations in 2027.

CS Energy and Aula Energy have reached financial close on the 228-megawatt Boulder Creek Wind Farm, which also gives the former 50% stake in the project.

In a statement, CS Energy said it will co-own the $740m project in a joint venture with Aula Energy and will hold the rights to 100% of its generation output through a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The Boulder Creek Wind Farm, which will be located 40 kilometres south-west of Rockhampton, will consist of 38 GE Vernova wind turbines and will power more than 85,000 homes when it becomes operational in 2027.

“The Boulder Creek Wind Farm supports the continued demand for renewable energy from CS Energy’s large commercial and industrial retail customers,” CS Energy CEO Darren Busine said.

“With Callide Power Station located approximately 110 kilometres away, CS Energy will investigate training pathways for our employees to provide maintenance services at the wind farm,” he added.

So far, the Queensland Government has committed $399.7m towards the project. This includes $174.3m in fiscal year 2025 from the Queensland Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund.
