Eurus Energy begins commercial operations of Kawanishi Wind Farm

It is the third completed wind farm of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project.

Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation commenced the commercial operations of the 64-megawatt (MW) Kawanishi Wind Farm after construction was completed, effective on 15 January 2024.

Located in Wakkanai City and Toyotomi Town over Hokkaido, the wind farm is one of the projects of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, which pushes for the instalment of over 107 wind turbines on six wind farms in northern Hokkaido.

It is also the third wind farm after the Hamasto and the Kawaminami Wind Farm, all managed by the Dohoku Wind Farm LLC, a group company of Eurus Energy.

In addition, the Kawanishi Wind Farm is comprised of 15 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy S.A. wind turbines with an output of 4.3 MW, one of the largest turbines in Japan. The power generated will be sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Network Inc. and distributed to over 47,000 average households, capable of reducing CO2 emissions by 73,000 tons per year.
